Our goal for each and every participant in the Fitness Training program will first and foremost be to keep every athlete injury free. Our coaches are dedicated to educating all of our athletes on what it takes for competitive athletes to stay healthy and “in the game.” Because of this dedication, throughout the year, athletes will be educated from our strength and conditioning specialists, professional athletes, and nutritionists to achieve proper health, nutrition, and exercise practices.

In order to administer efficient training programs and to ensure progress within our program we will start with soccer performance tests. These tests will assess soccer athleticism and fitness. Such tests will measure endurance, speed, agility, and power and allow evaluation of movement efficiency. Team Independence will also offer Functional Movement Screens that are beneficial to improving movement inefficiencies. The movement screens highlight any biomechanical “red flags” that could indicate higher risk for injury (muscle imbalances, improper joint alignments, etc.) or that limit a player’s ability to master certain skills within the sport and assigns corrective exercises to target the imbalance.
